Tips and tricks

  • Our inks are intended for natural fibers (such as coton or silk), and will not hold on synthetic fiber (polyester, nylon, spandex, etc...). When used on a mixed fiber fabric (for example 80% cotton / 20% Polyester), the color will hang on to the natural fiber part only, giving an overall lighter color as end result.
  • Brand new fabrics are generally coated with finish. This may prevent a good penetration of ink into fibers, so it is always better to wash them before printing.
  • To obtain large lightly colored areas without risk of ringing (Spéciale Paréos), dilute first your ink with the "Base de coupure Spéciale Paréos" before water dilution (do not exceed five per one water dilution).
  • To lighten a color with its corresponding base, it is usually easier to add color into base until you get the good shade rather than adding base to color. Always start light and darken progressively.
  • In case of accidental ink spots, wash it quickly with soapy water while it is still wet (our products resist even bleach once dry).
  • To get beautiful gradations (Spéciale Paréos), moisten the fabric before spreading color.
  • Never hesitate to test before any new realization.
  • For fixing, you can also use an ironing press (without vapor).
  • Never use vapor to fix!
  • Opaque looks dull when wet. Do not worry, for it gets bright as soon as it is dry.
  • To print a light color on a very dark fabric (Opaque or Opaque White), you had rather print a first white layer and dry before you print the final color (even if it is white too).
  • The Opaque White may be mixed with Opaque and with Transparent. In the latter case, it whitens the color and increases its covering power.
  • Fabrics colored with our inks may be ironed directly, without need to put another cloth in between (beware if latex-based gutta has been used, though - ours is not and will not require any additional care).
  • Our products are bleach-resistant (so, be very careful about making spots on your clothes!).
  • Because of the high level of pigment in our inks, a small pigment deposit may form in bottles of Spéciale Paréos during storage. If this happens, all ou have to do is shake the bottle vigorously to mix back the ink.
  • To hand-paint a T-shirt, be careful to slip a separator inside (like a piece of wood of cardboard). Otherwise, Some of the ink applied on the top will reach to the bottom and both sides of the T-shirt will be affected.
